Description

Bruges est une ville et commune néerlandophone de Belgique située en Région flamande, chef-lieu et plus grande ville de la province de Flandre-Occidentale.

Elle est membre de l'Organisation des villes du patrimoine mondial, depuis l'an 2000. Elle fut également la capitale européenne de la culture en 2002, en même temps que la ville espagnole de Salamanque.

Elle est appelée «Venise du Nord» car elle possède de nombreux canaux qui encerclent ou traversent la ville. On trouve encore des restes de forteresse (ainsi que des moulins) à côté des canaux entourant le centre ville.

Bruges a encore un port important.
