Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The boarded up entrance to the Market Street Arcade which when open connected Briggate with Vicar Lane. This place really was a dank hole when it was open. Every now and then some crooks used to run 'the bargain centre', if your from Leeds you'll probably remember that, however I couldn't describe it with out being potentially libellous. This along with the Burton Arcade (which sat opposite on Briggate) have both closed in the last 5 years, the Burton Arcade has even been demolished. While the larger, better known Burton Arcade was not the most salubrious shopping arcade in Leeds, the Market Street Arcade made it look like the sort of place Harrods would open a second branch. Taken from Vicar Lane in Leeds, West Yorkshire on the afternoon of Tuesday the 4th of May 2010.
