Description
English: Market Place, Reading, looking northwards to St. Laurence's Church, 17 June 1907. A parade of commercial vehicles in is progress, organised by the Commercial Motor Users' Association. On the west side may be seen the entrance to the Corn Exchange, and Nos. 34 and 33 (J. S. Salmon and Son, tea merchants). The Simeon Obelisk is partly obscured by the cabmen's shelter, and there is a bus on the left, and a row of motor-vans on the right. 1900-1909 : photograph by Walton Adams, from the "Reading Standard, 22 June, 1907.
