English: Market Overton cricket ground: a former ironstone quarry Looking down from the Thistleton road into one of the earliest of the Market Overton quarries. The railway ran under the road behind where I stood to take this picture; the tarmac slope down to quarry-floor (and pitch) level is more or less on the line of the railway, this part of which closed in 1962. See other photos nearby for more on the ironstone quarries and railways in this area. |
