English: Gunnery Sgt. Brian Scarbrough participates in seated shot-put during the first day of practice for the 2014 Invictus Games in London. 20 wounded, ill, or injured Marines from the Wounded Warrior Regiment were selected to the US Team for the 2014 Invictus Games held in London from Sept. 11-14, 2014. The US Team which is comprised of service members from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and SOCOM will participate in three days of training prior to the competition. The Invictus Games, an initiative of The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, in partnership with the Ministry of Defence, is an international team competition consisting of more than 400 wounded, ill, or injured service members from 14 different countries. Each team will compete in 10 sports – Athletics, Archery, Wheelchair Basketball, Cycling, Indoor Rowing, Powerlifting, Wheelchair Rugby, Swimming, and Sitting Volleyball. |
