English: Marines and sailors with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South walk out onto the flight deck of the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) to man the rails in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Aug. 5, 2014. The ship will invite multiple guests from Brazil for tours and a formal reception, while Marines and Sailors of SPMAGTF-South participates in bi-lateral theater security cooperation activities with the Brazilian military. Bi-lateral activities with our partners strengthen the relationships that facilitate the cooperation needed in the event of a crisis requiring a multinational effort. SPMAGTF-South is currently embarked aboard America on her maiden transit, “America Visits the Americas”. The ship is scheduled to be commissioned in San Francisco, Oct. 11.
