Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Built in 1925-1929, this Tudor Revival-style building was designed by Zettel and Rapp, a Cincinnati-based architecture firm, and originally was intended to be expanded along Wooster Pike and Madisonville Road as demand grew for retail space and hotel accommodations in Mariemont, though this never came to fruition due to the Great Depression. The building is clad in brick at the base, stucco and half-timbering on the second and third floors, with tall brick chimney stacks, gabled dormers, balconies, and casement windows defining the facade and roofline. Inside, the hotel features a well-preserved lobby with beam ceilings, original archways and columns, antique furnishings, decorative glass, quarry tile floors, and decorative woodwork. The only significant exterior change to the building has been the addition of a porte cochere at the narrow facade at the corner of the two streets that run alongside the building, and the enclosure of the original front porch to expand the lobby. The building is a contributing structure in the Mariemont Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 2007. Today, the Mariemont Inn is affiliated with the Best Western chain of hotels, and remains in use as a hotel.
