This picture was based on a portrait of Marie d'Assigny and is often mistaken as Margaret Tudor, who was sister of England's Henry VIII, queen consort of James IV of Scotland, grandmother of Mary, Queen of Scots, and also grandmother of Mary's husband, Lord Darnley.
