English: "Portrait Of The Canoness Of The Chapter Of Saint Louis De Metz"

Portrait of Marie Suzanne de Brémond d'Ars, wearing the canoness insignia of the chapter of Saint Louis de Metz, oil on canvas with coat of arms dimensions 81 cm x 65 cm, with the frame 92 cm x 76 cm, second half of the 18th century century. Marie Suzanne de Brémond d'Ars (1732 - 1807) Chanoinesse, dean of the royal and secular chapter of Saint-Louis de Metz is the daughter of the Marquis Charles de Brémond d'Ars (1695 - 1765). The canonesses were to demonstrate four hundred years of nobility, they are decorated with a gold cross with eight points, enamelled in white, surmounted by a royal crown, in the middle of the cross a small blue medallion is responsible for the number of the King and on the reverse this motto "Ludovici décimi quinti munificienta", the cross is suspended from a white ribbon edged with blue.
