Français : La condamnation de la princesse de Lamballe. Tableau exposé au Salon de 1846 (no 527) sous le titre Interrogatoire et condamnation de la princesse de Lamballe (3 septembre 1792), avec une citation de Thiers : "C'était à la Force que se trouvait l'infortunée princesse de Lamballe, qui avait été célèbre à la cour par sa beauté et par ses liaisons avec la reine. On la conduit mourante au terrible guichet. "Qui êtes-vous ?" lui demandent les bourreaux en écharpe. "Louise de Savoie, princesse de Lamballe." "Quel était votre rôle à la cour ? Connaissez-vous les complots du château ?" "Je n'ai connu aucun complot." "Faites serment d'aimer la liberté et l'égalité, faites serment de haïr le roi, la reine et la royauté." "Je ferai le premier serment ; je ne puis faire le second, il n'est pas dans mon coeur." / "Jurez-donc", lui dit un des assistants qui voulait la sauver. Mais l'infortunée ne voyait et n'entendait plus rien. "Qu'on élargisse madame", dit le chef du guichet.
