Italiano: "Maria Clementina Francesca (Vienna, 1777 ca. - Napoli, 1801) arciduchessa d'Austria, figlia di Leopoldo II e Maria Luisa di Borbone - Spagna, fu promessa sposa a Francesco I di Borbone (fin dal 1791) che sposò a Foggia nel 1797. Morì nel 1801 a soli ventiquattro anni, dopo aver dato alla luce un bambino, Ferdinando, spentosi a pochi mesi, e una bambina, la futura duchessa di Berry. Il presente ritratto fa parte di una serie di dipinti realizzati da Joseph Hickel, pittore di corte a Vienna, che nel 1768 ebbe l'incarico da Maria Teresa di recarsi in Italia per dipingere i ritratti della nobiltà di Milano, Parma e Firenze. Le tele di Caserta raffiguranti gli Infanti della Casa Reale d'Asburgo (conservano ancora le cornici originarie, a piccole foglie d'oro), probabilmente furono inviate alla regina Maria Carolina, zia e suocera di Maria Clementina" [1] |
