Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Scanned picture from slide. This is a monastery in Mardin, which is connected to the Syriac Orthodox Church and contains the Mor Mihail Church. It was built in the 4th century. The church took its name from Mor Mihayel, one of the important names of the period. Opposite the church entrance, there is a place with three tombs. These tombs belong to Mor Mihayel, Mor Mihayel's sister and Mor Mihayel's teacher, Aziz Mor Yusuf. When the Syriac Ancient School in Kırklar Church was closed in 1919, this monastery served as a school until 1928. However, due to its location outside the city and the difficulty of transportation, the school was closed and started to serve as a church again.
