No date, from buildings c. late 1910s or early 1920s? View of Canal Street looking lakewards from the French Quarter side around Chartres Street from a building roof or high window. Visible buildings include the Tudor Theater, Grunewald/Roosevelt Hotel building, Jung Hotel building in distance. Floats are visible going through crowds riverwards on the downriver side of Canal Street.
Back of card reads: "Mardi Gras time, frolic and fun, a spectacle of a city of 500,000 people, virtually all the populace playing in the streets, half of them masked and costumed, while the other half watches, their hearts and minds at play."
"Made in U.S.A. by E. C. Kropp Co, Milwaukee, Wis" No date nor copyright notice, hence now public domain by US law.
