| Description |
English: A cicada, found struggling and could not fly perfectly. Given water soon after the Blue Mountain bush fires in 2013. I flew to SYD from 1000km away that morning and had to transit inland and interstate through this area, and stopped here - I saw the devastation. Sadness and eerie silence, a lunar landscape with charred trees as far as the eye can see, when I notice this little guy. I have been here before in the wildest of rain and electrical storms during the night as well, when there was no fire but just an immensely powerful orchestra in the night hammering a jungle.
Australia has such unparalleled rugged beauty about her you respect and don't wan't to mess with, vibrant, luscious and green one day, utter devastation the next. Astoundingly I don't know how this little one survived at all looking at the damage, it is so quiet here and no other insects around, no ants, no birds, nothing. This cicada kept me company for a couple hours, when he was finally ready, he decided to fly away into the cooler valley hundreds of feet deep below. Good luck. |
