Description

Estas mulheres fizeram parte do grupo de mulheres indígenas que entrou na Câmara dos Deputados, Congresso Nacional, para participar da solenidade em homenagem à Margarida Alves, inspiradora da Marcha das Margaridas. Liderança camponesa da Paraíba, Margarida foi assassinada, a mando de fazendeiros, com um tiro de espingarda no rosto em 1983. "É melhor morrer lutando do que morrer de fome", frase dela, que era presidenta do Sindicato dos Trabalhadores Rurais de Alagoa Grande. Foi morta por denunciar abusos e desrespeito aos direitos trabalhistas na sua região. Por sua história de luta, Margarida dá nome à Marcha que levou, às ruas de Brasília, mais de 100 mil mulheres, camponesas, quilombolas, indígenas. Incluindo as mulheres da foto e milhares representantes de mais de 130 povos deste Brasil. Estas mais de 2500 mulheres participaram e construíram a Primeira Marcha Das Mulheres Indígenas de 9 a 13 de agosto em Brasília.
