Summary
[edit]DescriptionMarantz SD-60 cassette deck with three heads,1989.jpeg |
English: Marantz SD-60 cassette deck, 1989 ([1]), also rebadged as the Philips FC-60 (1989) and Revox C115 (1990). Price for the Marantz in 1990 about 1000 D-Mark, which would be about 800-1000 Euros in 2023. In 1990, Marantz was a Japanese subsidiary of Philips, and the Revox brand has just recently parted with Studer, soon to become a Harman subsidiary. The unit shown here was made for Japanese domestic market. It arrived in my hands in like-new condition, with very clean transport and low-mileage heads, and needed no mechanical adjustments. The deck came with massive cast-iron (yes!) side panels that are not shown here. Despite menacing looks, it's a well-built but otherwise mediocre, mid-fi product with lots of quirks and poor usability. Just look at diminutive, almost unusable transport control buttons. |
