Description
English: Photo by kind permission of Andy Tenny.

Recently (Jan-13) a friend chartered a light aircraft and did some flights & photography over Marana (MZJ), AZ, USA., and several of the other Arizona and California aircraft storage facilities. Knowing I'm a big DC-10 lover, he sent me this photo. The four DC-10's are... from bottom to top and right to left...

N576SH, DC-10-30, delivered new to VARIG in Jul-80 as PP-VMT and converted into a freighter in Nov-86 for VARIGLOG. It operated it's last service early in 2009 and was stored at Marana in Aug-09.

N578SH, DC-10-30, delivered new to VARIG in Sep-80 as PP-VMU and converted into a freighter in Nov-87 for VARIGLOG. It was stored at Marana in Dec-09.

N1856U, DC-10-30CF, delivered new to World Airways in Mar-78 as N103WA, it was leased to United as N1856U in Apr-86 and continued in service until it was retired and stored at Marana in Feb-01. In Jul-05 it was sold to Global Sun SA (Montevideo) for operation by Cielos del Peru and the registration was cancelled the same month as 'exported to Peru'. However it never left Marana!

N68043, DC-10-10, delivered new to Continental Airlines in May-72, it operated for Continental Micronesia between Jul-94 and Feb-98 and was retired in May-99 and sold to Pegasus Capital. It was converted into a freighter in Aug-01 and repainted into Emery Worldwide c/scheme. However the lease wasn't taken up and it was stored at Lackland AFB (SKF), TX, USA in Sep-01. It was ferried to Marana in Sep-02 and has been stored there ever since.

All four aircraft seem to be in remarkably good condition and N578SH and N68043 appear to be complete with engines.
