English: U.S. Embassy Charge d' Affaires, Mr. Larry Andre, gives a rousing speech during the Mapajoni primary school dedication ceremony in Tanzania on May 14. The Mapajoni primary school project was funded by Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa and included the rehabilitation of seven existing classrooms, completion of a partially constructed classroom, repair of the teacher's office, in addition to a new teacher's house and renovated latrines. The primary school will support 554 students from five villages as far as six kilometers away. The service members of CJTF-HOA, headquartered in Djibouti, employ an indirect approach to counter violent extremism. Through a strategy of cooperative conflict prevention the task force helps build the internal capacities of countries at risk to prevail against extremists exploiting instability. |
