A map, hand-drawn in black and purple ink, shows the East Indies, part of South America, Africa, China, Japan, and degrees of longitude and latitude. Written on the map is "Singapore to New York 106 days 1874". Japanese phonetic symbols on an endstick spell "Mamie Longfellow".
