English: Map depicting Makassar c. 1638, from the Secret Atlas of the East India Company (c. 1670). Legend below is quoted from David Bulbeck, A Tale of Two Kingdoms: the historical archaeology of Gowa and Tallok, South Sulawesi, Indonesia (PhD Thesis), 1992 (see Photo 1-1).

A fine river, navigable by ships (the main Garassik mouth, right of the photograph).
