Summary
[edit]DescriptionManual stone grinder for grains wet dry.jpg |
English: Stone grinder for grains. (Wet, dry grinder). Manual stone grinders used in India, North Africa and in the Middle East. Two stones, black and heavy, are measured and cut by the hands of a professional, then styled and trimmed. The top movable part is in the shape of a thick rod (larger object on the right side is a wet grinder) or a flat circular disc (smaller object on the left side is a dry grinder). It has an attached wooden handle, to be gripped by the grinding person's hands. The bottom fixed part accommodates the top movable part. In the dry grinder, in the bottom fixed stone, stands a solid wooden column (called the heart), that works as a hub for rotation of the movable top. |
