Summary
[edit]DescriptionManorowen House - geograph.org.uk - 424147.jpg |
English: Manorowen House Modest mansion rebuilt in the 1820's and again in the C19, replacing an earlier one which was once home to country squire, magistrate and antiquary, John Lewis, great-grandfather to the historian Richard Fenton, who, writing in 1810, recalled the abundance of his table and his cellar: "As he farmed his demesne, and produced his own grain, he could vouch for his malt, and piqued himself on having the native and staple liquor of the country in a perfection that made it proverbial, and for which that house long continued to maintain a reputation." |
