Description

The Manhattan District Uranium Mill Site from at Uravan, Colo. processing uranium for the atomic bomb. Photo shows in the foreground the posts for a 10 foot high chain link fence, a guard shack and change rooms. In the center, the oil room, warehouse and precipitation room. The laboratory and business offices building are not yet finished. To the far left are the steam boilers and the dryer. Across the San Miguel River is the Union Carbide mill for processing uranium and vanadium. Courtesy of the Eastalee Silver collection. (1944)
