Summary
[edit]DescriptionMandGN picnic saloon number 3 - geograph.org.uk - 1481292.jpg |
English: M&GN picnic saloon number 3 The Midland Railway saloon was a hand me down from the Midland to the M&GN (just like the GNR coach on the line). It became number 3.
It has been used for a TV workshop for many years and is in good condition for a 1886 coach which has been outside all its life. I have included this photo as it shows the temporary under frame which the coach is on. The Midland frame which is will eventually go on its beside it and is having work done to it. The work is being down by a local carpenter. As this coach is to be painted, good quality Ply is being used. This is to save costs as the original wood would have been mahogany and also means less reliance on rare hardwoods. |
