English: LMS Fairburn 4MT 2-6-4T on banking duty at Manchester Victoria. View westward from the long platform to Exchange - see my other views of these Banking Pilots. 1966 was probably the last year steam locomotives were used for banking up to Miles Platting, and No. 42087 was soon to be withdrawn (10/66): it was built at Brighton in 3/51 and had worked on the SR for most of its life. |
