Description
Zabunu o nastanku hrama unosi uzidani natpis u kamenu, ispisan jermenskim i starosrskim slovima.
English: Dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. It is located not far from Petrovac na Mlavi, next to the river of the same name. It was also called Vitelnica, Viteonica, Vitomnica and Vitaonica. Endowment of King Milutin, built at the end of the 13th century. The confusion about the origin of the temple is introduced by the built-in inscription in stone, written in Armenian and Old Serbian letters. The first written records date from the 15th century. He had a large library. Destroyed during the time of Kočina Krajina, and rebuilt by the efforts of Karađorđe, when it was painted. As a great shrine, the people respect the tomb of an unknown Sinaitic monk, which is located in the church. Next to the monastery is the spring of St. John the Baptist. Father Tadej was buried in the gate.
