English: The temple of the famous Manakamana Devi on the banks of the Arun River, a tributary of Saptakoshi, near Tumlingtar, Khandbari Municipality of Sankhuwasabha District. In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, a stone idol of Bhagwati i.e. Manakamana Devi has been replaced. The idols of these goddesses are said to have been found on the banks of the river Arun. As the idol has been affected many times by the flood of Arun river, the temple has been built keeping the idol in a high place in the year 2024. There are other temples near this temple. Devotees offer sacrifices or panchbali in this temple believing that whatever they want is fulfilled. Sacrifice worship is performed at the Kalika place in front of this temple. Haribodhani Ekadashi, Ram Navami, Balachartudashi, Shrishi Panchami, Manghe Sankranti etc. are some of the major Hindu festivals that attract large crowds of devotees. Devotees of the local Kiranti, Rai culture have been reverently calling this goddess Manakamana Mai Magohanga. There is also a Satighat near this temple which is considered as a sacred place for various rituals. There is also the famous Sati Dhunga nearby. |
