English: Managed hedgerow at South Cumberhead According to the sign, this is part of a Rural Stewardship Scheme which states "Management of Hedgerows - old hedges 'gapped up' with 6 plants per metre to provide better field boundaries and shelter for livestock and wildlife. Plants include hawthorn, field maple, crab apple and holly to provide a mixed hedge growing a variety of fruit for extended bird feeding opportunities. Species benefiting include yellowhammer, song thrush, blackbird, bullfinch, skylark, linnet, tree sparrow, barn owl and grey partridge." |
