Title
Man Drinking Tea from Mate Tea Gourd
Description
Microfiche incorrectly states "Man Smoking Pipe". re-titled to reflect G Brooks' notes./Picture from National Geographic Magazine shows a similar "pipe" as to the ones in GN04777 and GN04778. The text under the picture says "A Sliver Coat of Arms Decorates her Tea Gourd. The tube, also of silver comes apart in the middle for convenience in packing. Visitors to Buenos Aires usually bring a maté container home with them as a typical South American souvenir." The implement pictured is not a "pipe" but a maté tea gourd (pronounced mathay). So the man in GN04777 is not smoking, but drinking tea.
