The occipitalprotuberance occupies the extreme posterior end of theskull, when the glabello-occipital line is made horizontal^ 156 MANS PLACE IN NATURE. and so far from any part of the occipital region extend-ing beyond it, this region of the skull slopes obliquelyupward and forward, so that the lamboidal suture issituated well upon the upper surface of the cranium.
