The numerous Boards of Health throughout theworld, by valiant and vigorous fighting, have con-trolled the spread of Tuberculosis (The Great WhitePlague), and lessened the evil results of disease, andthe present generation stands protected against manyvarieties of contagion and infection that seriouslymenaced our forefathers; yet against The Great Se-cret Plague no such battle is being fought. TheBoards of Health shirk the responsibility, the parent,the teacher and the family physician ignore the dangeruntil they meet it face to face; and the great socialreformers (sic), like the ostrich of fable, bury theirheads deep in the sands of ignorance and then loudlyexclaim, We see no necessity for admitting the ex-istence of such an evil!
