Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 1.4-2 m; Identification: The nyala is reddish brown in color. Males have horns and a white facial chevron; Habitat: Dense lowland forests, thickets in savannas, near water; Diet: Herbivore: leaves, shoots, bark, fruit; Reproduction: Gestation lasts 8.5 months, with only one calf being born. Mating takes place one week after the calf's birth; Social Structure: Although herds of nyala average 8-16 members, they can get up to 50 individuals; Status: No special status. |
