Notes
English: The round eyes suggest that this is a male mask. Since the mask has been purged of the body costume and attachments such as coif, raffia, ribbons, cowries, etc., its meaning and functional context can no longer be understood. Masks can represent different characters, serving for entertainment, but also give shape to threatening forest spirits. They were sometimes passed down through generations, increasing their spiritual power.
