Description
English: Size of an original photograph:(59×95mm) Mounted (65×105mm)

Sumi script:“Makoto Kondo.Mr. lwai” Appearing at the bottom of the mount is printed “POKOMY & REUTER.”On the reverse side of the mount are printed“Pokomy & Reuter / Wien / (The remainder has been omitted.)” Sumi docket of an original photograph:“The photography was of America on a voyage to Europe in 1873(Meiji 6), A Mr. lwai was a juku janitor in those days. He later died of an illness and was, at that time,the manager of the accounting division of Sasebo Naval Station. Hankichi Iwai was the Director General and Navy Pay Officer. This photograph was retained by Takeo lwai who was the second son of Hankichi. On October 2,1949(Showa 24),this photograph was presented to his alma mater.He had subsequently changed his name to Takeo Kurokawa.”
