Title
Maker's Trial Piece
Description
English: A lead trial piece which has a serated rectangle with letters S and N stamped into it. The item has presumably been used to test what a maker's stamp would look like before it is used on a finished product. It is hard to determine what this intended fnished product may have been. The letters could be read SN or NS depending on which way up they are looked at. The style of the letters suggest a 17th or 18th century date for this item, although a Roman date is also possible.
