Description
Français : Autres titres : Maison William-Smith-Sewell. Description : La maison a été construite pour le shérif William Smith Sewell selon les plans de Frederick Hacker en 1835-1836. Un incendie en 1853 dévaste la maison et on doit reconstruire avec les murs restés debout. La demeure présente les caractéristiques de la maison londonienne excepté la marge de recul avant avec ses ouvertures plus petites au troisième étage. La résidence est coiffée d'un toit à deux versants. Les éléments décoratifs sont concentrés autour des ouvertures avec des linteaux, des jambages de pierre de taille. Un portail avec pilastres en pierre à chapiteaux doriques entoure la porte surmontée d'une imposte cintrée. Le décor intérieur a été redessiné dans le goût Art Déco par l'architecte montréalais Jean-Omer Marchand entre 1933 et 1934.
