| Description |
English: Main lake at London Wetland Centre View from the Dulverton hide over this wetland in central London. It was created by a partnership between Wildfowl and Wetland Trust, Thames Water and Berkley Homes. £11m from Berkley building homes on the water treatment plant, together with £5m raised by WWT converted the four disused reservoirs into a variety of wetland habitats. The site is leased from Thames Water and is connected to their water supply network to provide the water. http://www.wwt.org.uk/text/496/wwt_london_wetland_centre.html The reservoirs and treatment works were made obsolete by the London Ring Main Thames_Water_Ring_Main - an under appreciated engineering feat, mostly as it isn't seen by anyone. |
