Description |
English: Startup, Washington, at the junction of the Skykomish and Wallace Rivers, was settled in the early 1880s. Its original name was Wallace, but in 1901, after continuing confusion with Wallace, Idaho, the town changed its name to Startup. In 1906, many of Startup's residents were loggers or sawmill workers. George Startup, for whom the town was named, was a local sawmill owner.
The photographic postcard, from which this image was made, was postmarked 1910. It shows the main street of Startup, in south central Snohomish County, Washington.
