Results obtained for groundwater samples by Kirk et al. (2004) Geology v 32 no 11

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Variation with sulfate concentration in total dissolved arsenic, iron, and methane concentrations in the Mahomet aquifer. Data plotted are from Kirk et al. (2004). Given the pH of the groundwater samples, dissolved iron is expected to be nearly entirely composed of ferrous iron because ferric iron has low solubility at near neutral pH. The plot with arsenic includes a red horizontal line corresponding to the US EPA maximum contaminant level (MCL) for public drinking water supplies (10 µg/L = 0.133 µM). For samples with concentrations below the detection limits of the methods used for the study, detection limit values are plotted.
