Description
English: The so-called 'Lüsekamp Mahnmal', set up in 1996 near the German town of Niederkrüchten to the memory of 14 citizens of the Dutch town of Roermond, shot in December 1944 by a German Wehrmacht firing squad.
Deutsch: Das sogenannte "Lüsekamp Denkmal", errichtet 1996 in der Nähe von Niederkrüchten zum Gedenken an 14 Bürger der benachbarten niederländischen Stadt Roermond. Zur Abschreckung wurden sie im Dezember 1944 von einem Erschießungskommando der Wehrmacht hingerichtet. Nach der Urteilsverkündung und der Anordnung, alle männlichen Einwohner von Roermond und Maasniel im Alter von 16 bis 60 Jahren hätten sich bis zum 30. Dezember um 16:00 Uhr unter Androhung von Todesstrafe bei Unterlassung bei der Ortskommandantur zu melden, taten dies siebenundzwanzig hundert Einwohner von Roermond. Am 30. Dezember mussten sie sich zu Fuß auf den Weg Richtung Wuppertal machen, wo sie zur Arbeit eingesetzt wurden.
Nederlands: Het zogeheten "Lüsekamp Mahnmal", dat in 1996 bij Niederkrüchten werd opgericht ter nagedachtenis van 14 onderduikers uit de naburige Nederlandse stad Roermond. Zij werden in december 1944 als afschrikwekkend voorbeeld door een vuurpeloton van de Wehrmacht geëxecuteerd. Na de bekendmaking van het vonnis en het bevel dat alle mannelijke inwoners van Roermond en Maasniel in de leeftijd van 16 tot 60 jaar zich vóór 30 december 16.00 uur op de Ortskommandantur moesten melden op straffe des doods, meldden zich zevenentwintighonderd Roermondenaren. Op 30 december moesten zij te voet op weg naar Wuppertal, waar ze tewerkgesteld werden.
