Mahmut Celayir: Die Straße des Königs – Kral Yolu, Teil II eines Triptychons, Acryl auf Leinwand, 150 x 200 cm, 2007. Zum Werktitel: „Celayir selbst verrät (Künstlergespräch am 14. Januar 2008), dass er bei der Titelwahl an die antike Verbindungsstraße gedacht hat, die einst aus dem persischen Sousa nach Griechenland führte, die Straße, auf der „einst Alexander der Große und Darius Geschichte geschrieben haben“, und die durch das heutige Ostanatolien, seine Heimat führt. „Die Straße des Königs“ ist im kollektiven Gedächtnis des Zwischenstromlandes präsent, sie ist Teil des kulturellen Wissens der dort lebenden Völkerstämme. Längst sind die Namen der Könige, die hier vorbeikamen, zu dem einen, namenlosen, mythischen König geronnen. Um „die Straße des Königs“ ranken sich Vorstellungen und Mythen, sie ist „überall und nirgends“, ist Legitimation für geschichtliches Dasein, somit auch Argument, mit dem die Bergstämme im östlichen Landesteil die Eigenständigkeit ihrer archaischen Stammeskulturen im modernen Nationalstaat Türkei einfordern.“ (Irmgard Sedler (Text); Mahmut Celayir (Illustration): Landschaft – Mythos und Metapher [Ausstellung im Museum im Kleihues-Bau, Kornwestheim, Februar – April 2008], Kornwestheim 2008). |
