Description

Magpie-lark, Grallina cyanoleuca +=====================+ I was sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and the local backyard birds, when this female Muddie came in and cleared all the doves and mynas off the rooftop. She then sat on the tiles and soaked up the warmth for nearly half an hour. Not normally a 'backyard' bird for me, but I think she has desires on the lawn across the road. They did some lawn renovations a few weeks ago, and there are several large muddy patches that I've seen this bird overseeing.

Their call is such that if you ask them how deep the water is, they will always respond, "Kneee-Deep"

Besties to all my fellow lockdown folk.
