Nederlands: Omschrijving: Magere mensen, medisch onderzoek. Het "skeletmens". Volgens het bijschrift is deze in Sint Petersburg wonende jongeman van tweeëntwintig jaar, al is hij "rammager" (broodmager) en weegt hij niet meer dan 32 kilo, "kerngezond" en heeft hij dokters minder nodig dan zij hem voor hun onderzoeken. Hij is daartoe door hen reeds twee maal geopereerd tegen een ruime schadeloosstelling. Hieruit blijkt dat 'kerngezond' met een korrel zout genomen moet worden: een voedingsstoornis verhindert de volledige opname van voedingsstoffen, wat zijn botten broos maakt en spieren onderontwikkeld laat. Wel heeft hij een normale lengte bereikt. Rusland, 1913. |
