Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cathedral of St. Thomas, Madras (Chennai)

The neo-Gothic cathedral church of St. Thomas was rebuilt in 1896 on the site of two earlier churches, the earliest having been erected here by Nestorian Christians from Persia in the 10th century. The spot is the burial-place of St. Thomas the apostle, and the present church contains his relics in a crypt below the altar.
