| Description |
English: Madeira Drive Stretching from Palace Pier to the Marina this road provides main access to the beach and is host to a number of events which in the past have included drag racing and speed trials. It is also the finishing point for a number of long distance events most notably the London-Brighton Veteran Car Rally and Cycle Ride. It was also the finishing point of a Tour de France stage in 1994. The walkway below is actually the roof of the colonnade which lines the north side of the road and is perched against what were once cliffs that have been reinforced with concrete. |
