Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Fragment from the mosaic from Hall of the Seasons. Discovered by chance under a house belonging to the Qsar family on the south slope of the tell of Madaba. Busts representing the four seasons are found in the corners of the border of the mosaic. Each has an elongated face, large almond-shaped eyes and long hair bound to the forehead by a ribbon. Goblets and winged animals decorate the acanthus scrolls. Outside the scrolls a medallion with a pair of sandals indicated the entrance to the hall. Fruits, birds, fish and vegetable motifs decorated the grid of the carpet.
