Español: Esta obra es una curiosa versión del tema de la Virgen de la Leche, un símbolo de la misericordia mariana que, en este caso, sirve para auxiliar a las almas del Purgatorio. El tema de la Virgen de la Leche, y especialmente esta derivación de la del Sufragio, devoción sobre todo italiana y un recuerdo cristianizado de Juno y la Vía Láctea, fue considerada, con la Contrarreforma, una imagen poco decorosa, por lo que su representación decayó a finales del siglo XVI.
