Description
English: Lytton, Qld. c. 1914. Group portrait of members of the machine gun section of the 8th Infantry Oxley Regiment in an open paddock. Two of the group are seated behind mounted .303 inch Maxim machine guns. This section was mobilised on 6 August 1914. Included in the group is Lieutenant Eustace Royston B. Pike (centre, standing). Pike served at Gallipoli with the 5th Light Horse Regiment (5ALH). In 1919 Pike became the General Secretary of the Queensland Ambulance Transport Brigade, a post he held for thirty years until his death in September 1949. (Donor R. Pike)
