Summary

English: MacGregors Cave In 1603 King James VI proscribed Clan MacGregor and all bearing the name on account of their banditry and cattle raiding. The clan was scatterd and many adopted other names but the entire clan was hunted and killed like animals. This cave high above the River Tummel at the east end of Dunalastair reservoir was one of their hideouts. The proscription was finally repealed only in 1774.In Victorian times the cave was faked up as a summer house. |
