Description

Nederlands: Een portaal naast het westwerk biedt toegang tot de kerk. In zijn oorsprong dateert dit portaal uit de 13e eeuw, maar in de 15e eeuw werd het in gotische stijl verbouwd, toen het tevens ging dienen als toegang tot de achterliggende kapel van O.L. Vrouwe Sterre der Zee. De kapel van Onze Lieve Vrouw wordt ook wel de 13e-eeuwse Merode-kapel genoemd. In de kapel staat het genadebeeld van Onze Lieve Vrouw. Het beeld is miraculeus: er zijn claims van genezingen opgetekend nadat men de voorspraak van de Maagd Maria had ingeroepen. Het genadebeeld wordt altijd meegedragen in de grote stadsprocessie op of rond de feestdag van Sint Servatius.
